Escalation/Surge
January 12, 2007 on 2:03 am | In Cultural Commentary, Random Rant |I feel a kind of dread.
The image I get is of Bush throwing bodies into the maw of an enormous beast… just throwing bodies into a fiery pit with an enormous monstrous mouth.
Can Congress do anything? Can they start impeachment proceedings?

I blogged a similar thought here (even borrowing that wonderful picture from the Slate article you cited). I spoke of Moloch’s hunger for human sacrifice.
It is sickeningly frightful. But then so too are the comments to my blog post supporting the president. Please feel free to come over and join in the fray. There is a critical battle that we all must fight for the hearts and minds of our brothers and sisters.

Arthur Magida sent this to his e-mail list:
[Subject line:] & What does Shakespeare say about The Surge?
I see the imminent death of 20,000 men,
That, for a fantasy and trick of fame,
Go to their graves like beds …
O, from this time forth,
My thoughts be bloody, or be nothing worth.
– Hamlet, Act IV
Lord, have mercy. I’m writing my Senators and Congressmember.
Note: Big demonstration in DC Jan. 27.

I need your help as well. I’m (I guess) somewhat liberal evangelical that thinks the war is unconstitutional. And my former buds have gone over the edge attacking me with all sorts of fun words. Ian and I have a friendship that probably has caused me even more hardship! But that’s okay, I can take it-so long as I can get some reinforcements.
