I learned about it when I was at my grandmother's care center and saw the headline on a tv in one of the rooms. Her life was so tumultuous, but it has no bearing on my own. Fortunately, I can avoid televisions most of the time. We have a projector screen tv downstairs but it's only on when there's a specific show to watch.

I listen to NPR every day! It is so great. I think they're in the midst of a donation drive right now. I need to become a member of Oregon Public Radio; I really do listen to it a lot.

No, you don't need to know anything about the astronaut in the news. Just ignore it. I wish I had.

Here's one for you...name last year's Nobel Peace Prize winner (no fair "Googling")

I know the details, but can't come up with the name. Sadly, I know more about Anna Nicole.

Bread and circus, bread and circus...

I just discovered Harvard Divinity educated, war corresponded Chris Hedges today (thanks to his appearance on the Colbert Report with his new book calling the Christian Right fascists) and am now interested in his writing about war as an addiction. Perhaps this needs its own post, but I figured that PeaceBangers would know of him

Amen. And how many people died in Iraq and elsewhere yesterday? Yet all we hear about is Anna Nicole. You have company on the NPR news diet.
