They Said It Was About the Democratic Process, But…
June 15, 2007 on 10:05 am | In Activism |The high-minded opponents of marriage equality insisted that this was really a matter of legislative process. Of course it was really about hetero folks just not being able to stand the idea of two men or two women having at it in the privacy of their own homes. Because this wasn’t about the sanctity of marriage or families (if it was, why not work to outlaw divorce?), it was about genitalia.

[I just learned that the carriers of these signs were teenaged Slavs who bussed in from western Massachussets — being of Slavic ancestry myself, I wish I had gone over to say, um… hello? Maybe not. I heard they were saying things like, “We kill people in my country for this.” - PB]
