I also believe animals are able to sense human needs and respond. In fact, a cat named Oscar is in the news this morning because of his psychic abilities: he can sense when a hospice patient is within four hours of death and in 25 cases his predictions were right on target. He comes to the side of the dying person to keep watch. Here's a link: http://www.postchronicle.com/news/original/article_21294192.shtml

Maybe this is just me being sappy, but I also believe I had a direct experience of one of our dogs ministering to me in a psychic way the night before my father died. Oliver (a 50-pounder) normally doesn't like having his face too close to a human one, but that night, as I leaned back on the couch to relax and converse with friends, he covered my heart and chest with his body, his snout just under my chin, and stayed there for at least an hour. He had never done that before and has never done it since.

beautiful, soulful post...
Thanks.
p.s. that baseball thing has happened at our house, too. Baseball ALWAYS on, if possible...and we actually are going to CLEVELAND to watch them play this week. Go Sox!

Welcome to The Nation, PeaceBang. Now, whatever you do, please DO NOT purchase any of those PINK Red Sox items, such as hats, shirts, etc. - POOR RSN fashion sense, and it identifies you as a band wagon jumper. Go Sox!

Tessie is the Royal Rooters rally cry
Tessie is the tune they always sung
Tessie echoed April through October nights
After serenading Stahl, Dinneen and Young
Tessie is a maiden with a sparkling eye
Tessie is a maiden with a love
She doesn't know the meaning of her sight
She's got a comment full of love
And sometimes when the game is on the line
Tessie always carried them away
Up the road from "Third Base" to Huntington
The boys will always sing and sway

Two! Three! Four!...
