I'll stand up and say it! I'm not afraid to say that I purchased an US weekly to catch up on my favorite celebs love life/weightloss/baby bump. I like to be in the know. I need an escape from my own life for a hot second thats why sometimes I like to read about other peoples. sad but true :) and pretty much human nature IMO.

While I don't share your interest in celebrity gossip, I am far, far away from judging you for it. I am a big believer in ministers needing an escape from reality every now and then. And why not? We are confronted with reality far too much: who is addicted to what, who went off their medication, stories of infidelity, stories of abuse and cruelty, and a million other little pieces of the "real world" that are hidden from view in polite company. I say, if you can find something that gives you a break from all that, and that something is not harmful to you or someone else (drinking too much or some other unhealthy behavior), and do so in moderation (not a permanent escape), than hallelujah! For me its science fiction and pro football. To each their own.

The Sopranos on DVD is my (our) thing, along with a glass (or two) of wine once the kids are asleep. We just started season four.

Don't feel bad about your celebrity thing--I read people magazine in the checkout line, right along with everyone I know and like ;)

Hey, I love to watch trashy shows on HBO such as "Big Love" and "Cat house" My parishioners would be so appalled. However recently I was in a skit where I played a biblical prostitute. I was good, but maybe a little to good. :)

Well, when they stopped publishing Premier magazine the sent us a subscription to Us (how they are similar I am not sure) and I read everything I could ever have wanted to know about Paris, Lindsay, and Nicole... sadly/gladly the subscription ran out and we don't get it anymore. I am guilty of reading anything that comes through the door. Celebrity gossip to cereal boxes!

Though it pains me to admit this, I do keep up with celebrity gossip as a sort of guilty pleasure. Of course, my conscience kicks in and asks me frequently whether I'm contributing to a cult of personality that is a horrible example to our young people. In my defense, I argue that I seldom contribute to the pocketbooks of spoiled stars and only pay attention to celebrity gossip in much the same fashion as I pay attention to accidents on the side of the road.
