September 21, 2007 on 7:40 am | In Cat Blogging, Just Funny |I don’t understand why the cat is getting fatter even though I’ve cut back on her food and am being really careful not to feed her off my plate.
Then it occurred to me: she’s sneaking out to the car when I’m asleep and using my new GPS system to locate all the fast food joints!!
From now on I’m leaving my keys where she can’t find them, and I think that will take care of that problem. That is, until the snake teaches her how to hot wire a Honda.

My kitty has the opposite problem which is that she keeps losing weight. So thinking that she was bulimic (you don’t need to know the details of why I suspect this particular issue, but look at any clothing I accidently leave on the floor and you’ll know why) I was ready to check her into a food abuse program. However her evil nemesis the vet did a bunch of blood tests and $200.00 later I found out she has hyperthyriodism. She is gaining back her weight since I put her on the meds but it is a slow process. Perhaps you could give me some of your kitty’s extra poundage.

I do so appreciate your kitty blogs. I miss mine desperately from having to give them up five years ago to accommodate my spouse’s allergies. (Which I try to avoid bringing up in martyred fashion, but sometimes can’t help.) Their names were Eugene, from “Look Homeward Angel” and Celie, from “The Color Purple”. They helped me write sermons, and applied themselves as cat poultices when I was ill. I couldn’t find them a home, seeing that they were 10 & 8, and kittens are plentiful and usually free. I found a {shudder} no-kill shelter, and when there were 2 spots, I had 36 hours to get them there. The facility was lovely for the animals, but cold and brutal for the grief-struck person giving them up. Plus, I very un-pastorally decided to drive my own self there, an hour and a half. Wouldn’t we admonish anyone in our care for doing that?
Now I take any opportunities for the kitty love I get. We have a friendly neighborhood grey tabby who resembles The Divine Miss E, though minus the wonderful white paws. Her name is “Lovey”, which we forgive her owner for, in order to get petting privileges. We like it when she paws her way into our closed-in porch and lays on the old sofa.
Thanks for listening.

You don’t think that new snake diet has anything to do with it? All that slithery goodness has to end up somewhere.

And we all know that snake goes STRAIGHT to the hips.

Hmmm. Does this cat get foods that are mostly carbs? My cat’s diet is almost completely proteins (she’s picky) and she’s losing weight.
Very pretty kitty. ::snorgles cat::

What a pretty lady. She looks very soft and wonderful. *Sigh* I miss having cats too. Thank you for sharing her with us.

That is really a pretty kitty. And a great photo. I like cats quite a lot and would have one but my dog won’t allow it.
I have no advice for you on the weight gain. Just wanted to say how pretty your baby is.

I would have your doctor test for hypothyroidism - my dog has it and no matter what kind of diet we out her on she was still gaining wait. We just thought she was fat and lazy….
You can’t imagine the guilt after we found out her thyroid basically just stopped working.
She’s now on a pill 2x a day and has a whole new lease on life. She’s lost a total of 30lbs (she was a big dog anyway) and has more energy than I do now. Good luck!
