There are many benefits to not having a minister or set leader, though there are also drawbacks. I don't miss church politics and particularly don't miss the way ministers are criticized and held under a microscope. I do, however, miss the inspiring effect of a good sermon. Of course, you wouldn't want us all to go in a 100% lay-led direction, because then you'd be out of a job! :-) [<em>No, but I am aware that Quakers have elders who do ministry, and I assume that the community is devoted to pastoring one another.
