I have just learned that my dear friend, Tim Jensen (who commented here frequently as The Eclectic Cleric) died yesterday morning. Tim had been battling cancer for the past 18 months.
When we were last together in June, we got into about ten one-sided arguments (me crabbing at Tim, Tim good-naturedly tolerating my bitchiness) during a trip to Tim’s beloved Nantucket. I knew he was very sick but he was so hopeful. He moved back to the West Coast immediately following our jaunt to Nantucket to be close to family and passed away peacefully yesterday morning (the hour of worship, how appropriate) after a very rapid decline.
His last act of friendship to me was to send Max three wonderful chewy toys in the mail.
Tim, I love you, I will miss you, God bless you.
I knew him only through his blog, but I was saddened by the news and will miss him.
Peacebang, I am so sorry. I enjoyed his comments here and knew you were great friends.
I’m really sorry about Tim’s passing. I’m glad you were able to spend some time with him recently.
Tim Jensen and I were classmates, class of 1974. We weren’t close friends, but I had great respect for him, his sharp intellect and disarming sense of humor. Even though we didn’t keep in personal contact during our adult years, he was a part of that emotional, turbulent and confusing time of my life that was high school. I will miss his insights and the courage he had in the face of his illness. May he rest in peace.
A true loss in many ways. Shocking how suddenly he just slid away.
PB, he was lucky to have your friendship through it all.
May Light Perpetual Shine Upon Him. [Elz, he was lucky to have you, too, and loved you very much. I’m just flooded with memories tonight– and they go back so many years! – PB]
PB, I’m so sorry for your loss. What a very great friend he must have been for you, and how very much you will miss him. He was lucky to know you in this part of his life.
I’m very sorry for your loss. I only met him briefly (through you) so the two of you are joined in my memory of him.
May his memory be a blessing, and may he rest in peace and rise in glory.
Tim and I go back to the mid 1970’s when we were both young ministers serving small churches in Texas. This is a great loss, not only to his friends, but to our movement. He had a fine mind and a wicked sense of humor. We should have had him longer.
[Suzanne, he SO admired you! I hope you know that. – VW]
My Dear Tim, I can’t believe you’re gone. We had a very special friendship. My heart is broken.
